Hickory Golf Association

2010 Foxburg, PA Hickory Event

August 13, 2010 - August 14, 2010
Foxburg Country Club - Foxburg, Pennsylvania
Foxburg Country Club was built in 1887. Joseph Fox built the original 5 holes in 1887, and he increased the course to 9 holes in 1888. Foxburg CC is also the home of the American Golf Hall of Fame and Museum, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The course features narrow fairways, with deep rough, and small, fast greens.

There are two events running concurrently. There will be an event for pre-1900 equipment, as well as an event for competitors wishing to utilize later wood shaft equipment. There are reserve divisions for both types of equipment (see the registration form for handicap requirements). The events will consist of 36 holes, 18 each day, which is 2 trips around the course. Carts are available and included in the entry fee of $185, which includes golf for both days and prizes. 3 gutty balls engineered by McIntyre-White will be issued to competitors, and must be used in the pre-1900 event (extra balls will be available at the events cost). Modern balls may be used for the later equipment. The entry fee also includes lunch on the first day and a buffet luncheon Saturday afternoon when play has completed, prior to the awards ceremony.

The event is hosted by the Foxburg CC and Tom Johnson, with assistance and guidance from the Society of Hickory Golfers and Region 2 of the Golf Collectors Society.

Additional information or questions regarding the event should be directed to Mike Gardner, General Manager at Foxburg, or Tom Johnson, Tournament Director. Entry forms and additional information can be obtained from Tom Johnson, at Guttysnhix@aol.com, or at the golf course. Please visit the golf course website at www.Foxburggolf.com. You will also find an assortment of local activities outside of the golf tournament. The Tournament Hotel is the Comfort Inn – Clarion, 814.226.5230 ($68 per night, mention Foxburg Hickory Golf).
