2010 Belvedere Hickory
Dear Hickory Golfers,
The Belvedere Golf Club is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 5th Annual Belvedere Hickory Open on Friday, June 25th and Saturday, June 26th. Our membership is enthusiastic about hosting this event and hope that you will be able to join us. The field will be limited to the first 40 paid entries.
Your entry fee includes a Thursday, June 24th practice round, range balls, tournament favors and lunch at the turn on both Friday & Saturday afternoons. In addition, Mr. & Mrs. Chuck McMullin will be hosting a cocktail party at their home on Thursday evening. There will also be a heavy hors d’oeuvres party with entertainment at the Belvedere Clubhouse on Friday evening, and the Belvedere Club will be hosting a coat & tie dinner at the Belvedere “Casino” on Saturday evening. The presentation of prizes and awards will take place at the Saturday evening dinner. Both parties on Friday & Saturday are on a cash bar basis.
The tournament will be played under the auspices of the Society of Hickory Golfers. The Belvedere Hickory Open gross champion & the 60 + gross champion will have to use pre-1935 antique hickory clubs as defined by the SoHG Pre-1935 Equipment Guidelines, section 1 (available at www.hickorygolfers.com ). All hickory clubs are allowed in the net divisions.
Yardage for the 2010 event will be 5850 yards for all participants 69 years old and under and 5608 yards for all participants 70 years old and above.
New, to the Belvedere Hickory Open, is a ladies hickory scramble. This one-day event will be held Friday, June 25th. Format for the event is an eighteen hole two person scramble. Entry fee is $60 per player.
New also, to the Belvedere Hickory Open, is the addition of the Gene Sarazen Flight. The Gene Sarazen Flight is designated for participants 70 years of age and older. We will award a gross and a net champion. Again, the gross champion will have to use pre-1935 antique hickory clubs as defined by the SoHG Pre-1935 Equipment Guidelines. All hickory clubs are allowed in the net division.
The Belvedere Golf Club Board of Directors and the entire Belvedere Golf Club membership are looking forward to seeing you on our wonderful golf club and in the beautiful city of Charlevoix. We hope you will be able to attend one of the most enjoyable hickory tournaments in the country.
Attention: Hotel rooms in Charlevoix go fast. There are six weddings, a half marathon, an art fair, a summer solstice festival as well as our Hickory Open all being held on the same weekend. If you are planning to participate in the Belvedere Hickory Open, please make your lodging reservations A.S.A.P.
